Watch and Discover… How to Color a Dripping Pillar Candle!

This is an off-the-cuff “live” video where I show you how to color a dripping pillar candle! It was the first time I’d colored a candle with pencils this dark and saturated, and I’ll admit I was a little nervous since it was “live” and I made it up as I went along. And it took a lot of time to get it looking right.

But… there’s magic in the unknown, and it turned out awesome, I think!

My best tip for coloring anything a darker shade is just to keep going and darkening the shadows to add contrast and get the look you want. It took more time, blending, and pencil than if I’d used a lighter color. But I kept at it and love how it turned out. Moody and shadowy, yeah?!

So… give it a try! Watch the video and color along, or just go off of the photo and see what you can come up with on your own. You can also use this same idea with a different color.
